Why marble has color shade
Oct 09, 2022
Natural stone is rich in color, rich in change, and delicate in texture. It is the charm of trillions of years, the accumulation of years, and the original picture that nature has given us.
In the past few decades, people with "obsessive-compulsive disorder" really didn't have much affection for chromatic aberration. Many people like a regular, single and simple design style. When encountering a stone color difference, people are always eager to eliminate the color difference, or hope to choose a stone with a smaller color difference. However, there are no two identical stones in the world. Because of this, the natural color difference will decorate the architectural space with more personality.

But in the eyes of designers, in fact, the stone with chromatic aberration is a treasure. The chromatic aberration project is the highest art in nature. The greater the color difference, the more precious it is. Make good use of the color difference, and the whole space will bloom with a different style.
Many customers think that the materials used are of poor quality, but this is actually a misunderstanding of stone materials.

How is the color shade of natural stone formed ? Causes of chromatic aberration in stone
Reason 1: Surface mines and deep mines
Stone is mined in batches from the mine, from top to bottom, from outside to inside. Under the natural environment, the outer layer of stone is more exposed to water, air and sunlight.
The stone hidden deep inside, there is no such environment. Therefore, there is a general difference in the color of surface ore and deep ore.
After the deep ore is mined, the stone will also change in a new environment such as sunlight, air, and water, resulting in differences in color.

Reason 2: Uneven mineral content
The base substance of marble is calcium carbonate (limestone). In addition to the basic minerals, various elements and minerals are mixed together to form the ever-changing colors and textures of the stone.
Take the stone material of South America as an example, the geological movement in South America is strong, and the underground is rich in copper, iron, and various metal minerals. Therefore, the stones produced in South America usually vary greatly in texture and are rich in color.
The distribution of various minerals in nature is uneven, otherwise humans would not need to explore for minerals. This unevenness results in differences in the color of the stone.
Reason 3: The methods of mining and processing are different
The stone mined from the mine is usually a whole block, and the block needs to be cut into pieces, which are called large slabs.
In the processing of blocks, there are different cutting directions. This kind of processing difference cannot be completely avoided even if careful attention is paid during stone processing. There will be more or less differences in the cut plates.
Reason 4: The degree of surface processing is differen
The same stone variety, the color of the rough surface and the smooth surface is different.
In the smooth surface, polishing to 10 degrees, and polishing to 50 degrees, 70 degrees, 90 degrees, the difference is also very obvious. The brighter the grinding, the more obvious and brighter the stone pattern and color; while the rough surface has a hazy beauty.
